A new post by me for 'Wellcome Stories' at the Wellcome Collection discussing the history of deaf communication in the Middle Ages.
The post discusses different forms of communication and the story of Thomas Tillsye - a deaf man who took his marriage vows to Ursula Russel (who was probably hearing) in sign language in 1575.
